Scoodi is designed to help you find things and give things back to your local community. When Scoodi searches for things it searches inside a geographical area (the search area) with your search location at the centre. The more accurately you give us your search location the better the search results will be.

For example; if you give us your home address we will give you search results which are centred around your home. This way you can search for items which are close to your home. In the example (right) we have set our location as Brisbane and a search radius 2km. The blue bubbles represent things that we have found in that area.

Acting locally reduces the transport miles associated with buying and selling things which in turn reduces energy consumption and emissions. Acting locally connects people within a community.

Act Locally:

Scoodi can connect you to and help you support your existing local communities. Work together with your neighbours, your local school, sporting club, social club, church or even local producers and service providers. We actively encourage local groups to get together and use the site to support each other. The more items there are in your area, the more benefit we can all get from using the site.

Here are some examples:
• Parents of a local school use the site to trade used books and school uniforms.
• Members of a local congregation use the site to raise money for church renovations.
• Members of a local car enthusiast club use the site to trade spare parts.
• A neighbour with a lemon tree uses the site to advertise free lemons rather than let them fall from the tree and rot.
• A group of neighbours with a shared interest in reading us the site to exchange books.

Scoodi helps you give it away, buy it or sell it. In doing so, the amount of new stuff made every year is reduced and the amount that people spend on things generally is reduced. Not only does society benefit but so does the environment and your local community.
