Finding Things
To find things on Scoodi you can either browse for them using our tag clouds or you can search for them using the keyword search box. All of your browsing and searching is carried out inside your search area.

Search Area:
Your search area is the geographical area which will contain your search results. By default the search area is set to a 20km ring around Brisbane City, Australia. When you join Scoodi you will set a new default location which generally would be set to where you live. However, you can change your current search area at any time by following the link at the top of the page: You are searching within 20 km of George st BRISBANE QLD 4000 AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA Change your search area. You can set the search area to anywhere in the world. You might want to do this if you are looking for something on behalf of a friend.
Keyword Search:
The keyword search tool allows you to search the Scoodi data base using keywords. The search looks for matching words in the title, description and tags of each item. If 2 or more words are entered the search engine uses an AND to search for items containing all of the words listed. To search for one word or another, separate the search terms by the word OR. E.g. car OR bicycle
Browse tags:
Scoodi makes extensive use of Tags. Click on any Tag in the "Tag Cloud" to browse Scoodi for items with that Tag. The content of the Tag cloud is sensitive to the context of the site and your location. When you start browsing the cloud will show the most common tags in your search area. Once you have a set of search results, the tag cloud will only show tags from items in the result set.
- A tag is a label attached to an item with a simple one word description of the item on it. One item may have many tags. In fact the more tags an item has the better.
- Tags are presented to the user in a Tag Cloud.
- The larger and more prominent a tag appears in the cloud, the more items Scoodi has which have that tag. In the example to the right there are a lot of items tagged with Animals and Orange. The tag cloud only shows you tags for current items that are within your search area. You won't see lists of empty categories on Scoodi.
- When there are many items within your search area, the tag cloud will tend to give you a list of major categories, that is, the list of the most common tags, e.g. electrical furniture toys etc. When there are fewer items in the search area some less common tags may appear.
